After what seemed like an eternity spent getting cancer treatment in Seattle, 12-year-old Ember got the news that she would soon be going home to Big Fork, MT. But before she did, Ember wanted to celebrate the end of her treatment with an exciting shopping spree in Seattle. She would return home to Montana with both a fresh and fashionable wardrobe, as well as a newly revitalized and positive outlook on life.
On her wish day, Ember arrived to the Southcenter Mall in Seattle, WA, looking like a celebrity as she stepped out of the limo ready to shop. Ember did not hesitate to begin the fun and start shopping. First stop: Skechers. Ember tried on shoe after shoe, until she finally chose six of her favorites, which were all donated. They were soon on their way to the next store, Hollister. While there, Ember’s mom and Make-A-Wish volunteers loaded their arms with clothes for Ember to try on. When Ember went to Justice she was given VIP status, as they had a personal dressing room just for Ember, adorned with purple balloons – one even had her name on it!
"My friends are going to be so jealous!" Ember exclaimed.
She continued the shopping fun with stops at an electronic store and Abercrombie & Fitch. Ember bought some of the comfiest and warmest clothes that will be perfect to have for the cold Montana winter. Only having time to go to two more stores, Ember chose to go to Aeropostale and Claire’s. Ember, the champion shopper, was able to find some very cute clothes and jewelry to add to her ever-expanding wardrobe.
After filling up the entire trunk of the limo with her brand new items (and after having worked up quite an appetite), Ember and her entourage took a break from shopping and ate a lunch donated by Olive Garden. It was a fun girls lunch in which they chatted about Ember’s journey and how excited Ember and her mom were to go back home. Later, Ember’s mom said, “Ember had such a wonderful time shopping and told me later she was so happy she thought she could cry and her cheeks hurt from smiling so much.”
